So Long To Old Friends ~

Today, I decided that it was officially time to retire my old Authentics. As you can see, their retirement should have come some time ago because they have been rather “well loved”, but I just couldn’t ever bring myself to part with them. I’ve had these shoes for probably about six or seven years. They eventually ended up being dubbed my “tour shoes” because I would wear them every time my old band went on tour, whenever I toured with friends’ bands, or basically with any traveling. These shoes have see the rocks and rivers of the Angeles National Forest here in California as well as the Smokey Mountains National Forest in Tennessee. They have seen the entire east coast from Boston down past the Florida Keys. They have seen countless stages and beaches. And of course, they have seen several skate sessions. Just to give a little perspective, the above pairs are the exact same shoe. Color way and everything. The only difference is the new pair were made in Vietnam whereas the old pair were produced in the Philippines. I believe you should always wear your garments until their last threads fall off. In doing so, you truly wear them rather than them wearing you. There’s nothing like putting your personal imprint on your wardrobe through years of use. Such commitment truly makes them yours, for they cannot fit anyone else the way that they fit you. You can read more on that here.
Tour shoes, you will be missed!
